When I realized that I will take this subject in this semester, I am very excited because I think this subject will be very interesting. Our lecturer for this subject is Mr. Chai Voon Chiet. After we start learning this subject, it is not disappointed me. It is really very interesting. We got chance to use the instrument and measure by ourselves.

We have learnt about the leveling and traverse. There are two methods for leveling which are collimation method and rise and fall method. Besides, we have also learnt the error distribution and the errors in linear measurement as well as their corrections.

During the tutorial class, Mr. Chai also let us using the instrument of leveling and the traverse. He taught us to set up all necessary instruments and try to measure by ourselves. For the assignment, we need to measure the leveling and the traverse of the car park in campus. This assignment needs the teamwork between the group members. We are very excited and have fun when we do this assignment. Mr. Chai also guides us when we have any problems.

Building Services 1 QSB1714

This subject is totally new for me. I never learnt this before. Thus, I am very looking forward to learn more about this subject. Our lecturer is Mr. Kam Kenn Jhun. We have learnt about ventilation, sewage system, stormwater system, water supply, telecommunication and others. I feel very interesting because these things that we have learnt from this subject are around us.

When we are learning the piping, Mr. Kam also brings us some examples of the pipe. I have learnt many types of materials for piping and their differences. Besides, Mr. Kam also teaches us how to search for correct information through internet.  He also give us many tutorial exercise in the tutorial class.

For the assignment, we need to choose a topic and then do a report as well as case study. There is also a presentation to present our topic and the case study. The topic that we choose is sustainable stormwater management. We will choose this topic because we are interested in the stormwater management. We have learnt where the stormwater flows away after it was collected by the storm drains. Besides, we always thought that the stormwater is clean. But actually it is not so clean as we thought. The stormwater has collect waste from the impervious surfaces and will cause the pollution if it is untreated.  I have also learnt the teamwork between my group members. They help me a lot.

Construction Technology 2 QSB1524

I am very interested in this subject last semester because I found that the technology of the construction is very interesting and I haven’t seen before. So, I am looking forward to learn more about this subject. Our leturer is Mr. Chiew Seng Khoon. He explains every topic very detailed and I have learnt many things from his lecture. We have learnt about retaining wall, temporary structure, underpinning, scaffolding, suspended ceiling, partition wall and other topics. Besides, he also shows us many videos about the construction methods of some topics.

For the group assignment, we need to do a report and the topic is chosen from the lecture notes. It means that we have to search more detail information for the topic we have chosen. Our group is doing the diaphragm wall. We chose this topic from such many topics because we are so interested in diaphragm wall. We have searched the information from the library as well as from internet. There are so many new things that we don’t know. Through this assignment, we have learnt many things about the diaphragm wall construction.  Besides, I also learnt the teamwork from this assignment. My group members and I discuss this topic together and change our opinion about this topic. They also help me a lot.

Besides, we also need to do a individual assignment which is drawing for 20 sketches drawing. I like this very much. I can know the structures through these sketches that gave by Mr. Chiew.

Measurement 2 QSB1124

Last year, I am interested in this subject and like it very much. However, I am a little bit worried for this semester because this subject must be more difficult and I am afraid that I can’t handle it. But after then I realized that it is not so tough like I thought before. If I follow lecturer’s instruction and do the tutorial exercise then I think there is no problem. Our lecturer for measurement 2 is Miss Habizah.  Miss Habizah’s teaching is very clear. She not only give us the detailed notes, but also some images of the structures to make sure that we can understand the measurement easily.

For this semester, we are learning about the finishes. It is very different and interesting compared to the last semester. We have learnt the staircase finishes, wall finishes, floor finishes and ceiling finishes. At first, I felt difficult because all this things are new for me. But after doing the tutorial exercise, I found that it is not so difficult.

            The group assignment for this subject is measuring the classroom, lecture theatre and the toilet of the campus. We need to measure all the data by ourselves and draw the layout plan as well as the section drawing. This is the first time I draw the construction drawing. I have learnt many things through this assignment. My group members also help me a lot.
